Youth Ministry Volunteer Coordinator

Leanne Kerner is a native of Paducah, Kentucky. She graduated from Bethel University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science and from Memphis Theological Seminary in 2017 with a Masters of Divinity. She was ordained by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in May of 2017. Leanne has served Cumberland Presbyterian congregations in Kentucky and Tennessee before moving to Dallas, Texas in March of 2020, where she serves Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church as the Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries. In her spare time, Leanne enjoys taking long walks with Dolly the Dog, spending time with friends, reading, listening to True Crime Podcasts, and watching reality television.

Youth & Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven." - Matthew 19:14

Our junior high and high school youth group allows close friendships to form among the entire group through fun activities, service and fellowship. Amusement parks, concerts, sporting events, and movies are just a few of the events the group participates in.

Monthly youth fellowship meetings include food, games and hang out time, as well as Bible study. Our monthly meetings always welcome visitors and friends for all of our activities. Our youth group participates in many ministries of LHPC, as well as serving our community with an annual mission trip. LHPC is proud of their youth and the leadership they show in Lake Highlands and beyond.

From summer camp to silly games, graduations, parties and everything in between this group has a blast together.

Educational Classes

Pre-K through 6th grade children join together for classes that explore what it means to belong to God. Under the guidance of loving teachers, they look at the Old Testament and New Testament stories to better understand how God chooses to live in and through relationships in the world . These fun and active lessons are taught through stories, crafts, games and music. Lessons and activities focus on gaining an understanding of the Presbyterian order of worship, the liturgical year and the history of hymns commonly used in worship.

Children & Family Ministry

At Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church, we understand the importance of family and children's ministries. That's why we strive to create a nurturing and supportive environment for children and parents alike. We host a variety of activities each month to bring families and children together in a fun and engaging way. From lunch and fellowship to movie nights and pool parties, there's something for everyone! We also offer mission projects and days of service activities for those who are looking for something more meaningful.

Preschool & Elementary Age Children

For elementary age children we offer a Kindergarten and 1st grade class plus a 2nd through 5th grade class.

We also have two nursery classes available for our younger children.

Blessings Nursery is for our newborns through 2 years old. These little ones enjoy playtime with a variety of developmental toys, stories, music and of course lots of snuggle time!

Pre-k (3-4 years) kiddos enjoy stories, crafts, Bible stories and games.
