Mission and Vision
What is there about Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church that makes this community of faith special and unique? What is our Mission and Vision?
OUR MISSION
Jesus told us, "Go...and Make Disciples."
(Matthew 28:18-20)
Disciple-making happens both inside and outside the church. As insiders, we are to grow in our faith, in our commitment to Christ, in our living out the faith in obedience. We are also to reach out to outsiders, who do not yet know Christ, who may not participate in a faith community, or who simply need tending to because they are in need and we can give.
Our Vision Statement does a great job of highlighting these very things:
OUR VISION
“Serving God Together by
Reaching Out, Loving, Caring and
Inspiring Spiritual and Personal Growth”
We hope you will sense our Mission and catch our Vision!
Our History
Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church is located in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. We are the only Presbyterian congregation inside IH-635 and between Central Expressway (US 75) and Northwest Highway.
The congregation is large enough to offer programs and ministries for all age groups and to meet a variety of interests. Yet, we are small enough to allow relationships to develop quickly. Most importantly, this congregation offers a welcoming community through which you can explore and grow in your faith and discover opportunities to live out your Christian discipleship.
The congregation is A New Church with Strong Roots. We were organized in January, 1999, by the union of three former neighboring Presbyterian congregations: Colonial, Lake Park and Northminster. We are affiliated with both the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We are the only congregation in Dallas to hold joint membership in these two denominations.
