Biography

C. Peyton Strouth is a native of Virginia where he previously served various congregations as Minister of Music, most recently at Cave Spring United Methodist in Roanoke. A 2009 graduate of Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, he holds a Masters in Music in Choral Conducting as well as a Masters of Sacred Music in 2008 from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. His undergraduate degree is in Music from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Peyton

has studied conducting with Larry Parsons, Alfred Calabrese, Pamela Elrod, and Jonathan Palant. Peyton was pleased to be awarded the inaugural Turtle Creek Chorale Choral Conducting Fellowship for 2008-09.
He lists his grandmother, who was a pastor and church musician, as one of the first and most powerful musical influences in his life. "She and my mother are the ones who taught me to sing and encouraged me to sing during worship when I was very young." His musical tastes are varied and he has been a Tenor soloist with the Larry Parson's Chorale, Camerata Appalachia, Turtle Creek Chorale and even the keyboardist in the Virginia Opry.
