Congregational Care
"Reaching Out, Loving, and Caring" is part of the LHPC Vision Statement. The Congregational Care Committee of LHPC provides a number of ministries that serve the members of the LHPC congregation to make this portion of the Vision Statement a reality.
Many caring volunteers provide regular phone and other contacts to ensure that homebound members get friendly calls to check in to see how things are going, with referrals to staff or others as appropriate.
Listed below are several of the many ministries performed by the Congregational Care Committee.
Newsletter
The monthly newsletter, " The Messenger," is a ministry that keeps the members of LHPC informed as to what is going on in the life of LHPC. The newsletter also allows friends of LHPC who moved away or are no longer able to attend regularly to stay in touch with LHPC.
Telephone Committee
The telephone committee is utilized to communicate significant events, news, and/or needs of LHPC and its members in a timely manner.
Prayer Chain
The prayer chain allows members to make special prayer requests for themselves as well as for others, with brief significant information being passed through the chain so that others may pray for those in need.
Food Committee
The Food Committee is made up of several teams who offer support with meals in times of special circumstance such as a death or a major illness.
Attendance Tracking
The Congregational Care Committee tracks the attendance of the members and visitors at LHPC worship services.
New Member Assimilation
The new member assimilation subcommittee pairs new members with sponsor(s) to insure that information and opportunities for service and involvement are offered.
Members with Special Needs
Homebound, elderly, and handicapped members who find themselves unable to participate regularly in the life of the church are supported by the Congregational Care committee through visitation, telephone calls, cards, and prayer. Upon prior scheduling, the sacrament of communion may be celebrated with homebound members by trained teams as an extension of the sacrament at a worship service.
Transportation
Transportation arrangements can be made to assist members with rides to worship, doctor's appointments, etc. when such assistance is required. To arrange transportation assistances contact the church office.
