August 2001 — Our friends and neighbors at White Rock Center of Hope contacted us in late July about their emergency need for food and toiletries.  This ministry is an emergency assistance center that provides food, clothing, and short term financial assistance in response to verifiable need.  Their pantry was running extremely low due to the almost tripled number of clients over last year.  Knowing

what a fabulous ministry the White Rock Center of Hope is to our community, Lake Highlands Presbyterian congregants brought items each Sunday this month to help fill the need.  Four carloads of donated supplies later, the White Rock Center of Hope was a little better prepared for the demands of their clients in need.  Our children were so struck by the example set that they continued to bring food the first Sunday each month and present it during the time for the regular Children's Sermon.  If you'd like more information on how you can further volunteer for this great organization, please call 214-324-8996.
