LHPRES Reformation Sunday

On this Reformation Sunday, October 29, Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church will celebrate our great Reformed heritage with a Festival of Banners.  We Presbyterians are a people who throughout our history have borne witness to God’s grace in Jesus Christ and our understanding of the gospel in confessions of Faith.  Eight banners will be presented containing symbols of the content and settings of each of eight historic confessions of faith.  The music of this service has been carefully selected to represent the faith for which each of these confessions stands.

This is a festive, dramatic, colorful celebration.  Festivity and gladness are appropriate before the living and acting God, for we glorify God as the inspiration of the faith of our fathers and mothers -- and our Lord now and forever.  This is a service of celebration!  A festival of thanksgiving!  As the Psalmist declared:  "We shall triumph in your Salvation, and in the name of God we shall set up our banners!"

This is a service for the whole family.  Bring your children! Invite your neighbors!

LHPRES LHPC Outreach Corner

Missionary of the Month
October is "Missions Month" and we at LHPC will be focusing on the many missions supported by our congregation.  Throughout the month several local organizations will be highlighted, as well as our support of worldwide missions.  Be sure to visit the Missions and Reach Out bulletin board and write a note of thanks and encouragement to our "Missionary of the Month."

LHPC Missions Ministry Team
2005/2006 has brought many joys and new adventures to LHPC: new interim pastor, new members, and new energy!  The Session and Committee Chairs studied together, "Twelve Dynamic Shifts for Transforming Your Church," by Stanley Ott, which brought a lot of new energy and great ideas to the LHPC leadership teams.

One of the ideas is to move from "committees" towards "ministry teams," a group of people with a passion for what they are working on, who spend time energizing each other as much as the ongoing projects.  The Missions Committee is ready to move in this direction.  If you are involved with the Missions Committee and Reach Out Task Force now or have a passion for "reaching out," we want to invite you to be a part of the Missions Ministry Team, as we live out our Mission to "Go...and make disciples."

Love Loaf Program
In partnership with the Cumberland Presbyterian Board of Missions we will be participating in the 2006 Love Loaf Program.  The donations this year will provide relief for children in the country of Georgia in Eastern Europe, where 70% of households do live below the poverty level.  Offerings can be collected at home in the small "loaf" boxes that will be available on Sunday, October 29, that returned on Sunday November 26.  After this time we will resume our collection of coins for the "2 cents a meal" program.
