Biography
Rev. Speck
was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, to Dutch immigrant parents. She earned a B.S. degree in Urban Studies from Georgia State University. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Perkins Theological Seminary, Southern Methodist University. Her work experience for the United States Government includes employment as a Federal Special Agent and as a Foreign Service Officer with postings in Venezuela, Guatemala, and Canada. Phyllis served several years as a missions volunteer for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Romania and Egypt. Following her Ordination and Installation as a Pastor, she served Presbyterian Churches in Jasper, Texas and DeSoto, Texas. Phyllis is a widow with four grown children and six grandchildren. She enjoys reading, traveling and doing volunteer work.
